How to look after our white metal outdoor furniture
White cast aluminium outdoor furniture is known for its durability and low maintenance, but to keep it looking its best, it still requires some care.
Here are Lazy Susan’s top tips on how to look after it and keep it clean and ready to use:

Cleaning
Our starting point is to regularly give your white furniture a quick once over to remove dust and debris and prevent it from building up. The best way to do this is to just use a soft cloth or a feather duster to brush it down, prevent buildup, and help maintain the furniture's appearance. -
Washing
Every couple of months or so we like to clean the furniture with some washing-up liquid or car shampoo and warm water. Use a soft sponge or cloth to wash it down then rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any soapy residue. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can scratch the powder coating and dull the white finish. -
Stains
For light stains or spots from food spills or pollen, etc use the method above. Let the warm water sit for a few minutes if they’re a little dried on from the sun. For tougher stains like bird droppings or tree sap, or safe go-to method is to mix up a paste with baking soda and warm water, apply it to the stain, let it fizz for 2 or 3 minutes, and then repeat the washing process above. Again, avoid using chemical solutions like bleach or ammonia-based cleaners as they can damage the finish. Protection
In terms of the material we use and durable white painted finish, it is designed to be left outside all year. That said, we still think it pays to protect your furniture from the elements by using breathable covers when not in use. This will keep it ready to use, prevent dirt from building up and reduce the frequency you need to clean it. One thing we would advise is that if there is a storm warning with high winds, store it indoors or stack it in a safe/sheltered part of your garden. -
Maintenance
If the finish gets chipped or scratched, dropped cutlery is a common one, then use our touch-up paint to repair the area. This will help prevent moisture ingress which can damage the integrity of the paintwork. We also like to apply a light layer of carnauba-style car wax or a protective sealant once or twice a year to help preserve the finish and make the future easier to clean. Prevention
Regularly check your white garden furniture for any signs of damage and rectify it immediately. Ensure the protective screw-in feet are in place and if missing or worn you can order replacement packs in our spare parts shop. If you live somewhere with a harsher climate, such as on the coast, then you might need to wash, rinse and protect your furniture a little more regularly. If your furniture includes parasols and/or cushions, always clean and store them properly. Wash our cushion covers according to the care label, and store them indoors or in a dry place when not in use to prevent mould and mildew.
