Lazy Susan's favourite gardening websites for 2025

Lazy Susan's favourite gardening websites for 2025

We recently looked at the magazines we read and why we love print but gardening websites also offer a wealth of information and a handy resource for those of us with a green thumb.

Many of our favourite UK-based gardening websites are maintained by experienced gardeners, horticulturalists, or botanists, so the advice they provide on subjects such as plant care, soil preparation, pest control, etc is always spot on.

They will share practical tips and tricks for various gardening tasks, such as pruning, fertilising, harvesting, and what we should be doing in our gardens on a month-by-month basis, with recommendations for plants and seeds that are well-suited to the specific climate and growing conditions found in the UK

By utilising gardening websites on top of other resources, you can enhance your gardening skills, troubleshoot problems, and create a beautiful and thriving outdoor oasis.

Lazy Susan’s top 7 gardening websites for 2025

The Lazy Susan team have taken a vote and we have selected what we think are seven of the best gardening websites in the UK for 2025.

Each is a site we regularly click on and we have chosen them as they offer a perfect blend of well-written articles, resources, expert advice, and tools that can help us achieve a stunning garden in 2025:

1. Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) | rhs.org.uk

We had to start with the RHS. It is undisputedly the UK’s heavyweight champion of the gardening world. They provide a wealth of resources, from plant care guides and seasonal tips to garden planning advice.

It is a name we can trust and their online plant finder and advice hub are invaluable for gardeners of all experience levels. Some of the Lazy Susan team’s favourite features are their detailed plant care and growing information, monthly gardening tips and seasonal advice.

2. Gardeners' World | gardenersworld.com

As big fans of the popular BBC TV show, Gardeners’ World was always going to make our list. It provides a comprehensive mix of how-to guides, gardening advice, and inspiration, and it's a website many of us at Lazy Susan HQ will have a daily lunchtime click on.

What the team here love is that it doesn’t matter if you're a novice or a seasoned green thumb, the website is user-friendly with something for all. We love the “what to do now” section, which gives super handy seasonal gardening tips, and of course, the video tutorials and step-by-step guides from the expert Gardeners' World team are always a great watch.

3. The Spruce | thespruce.com/uk/gardening

The team at The Spruce are probably best known for their accessible and well-organised articles on a range of gardening topics all tailored to the growing conditions in UK gardens. Whether it’s container gardening or sustainable gardening best practices, they run the gamut.

The Spruce gets the Lazy Susan team vote because we find their practical advice on spaces that are a key market for our furniture (such as small gardens, patios, and balconies), is second to none, and it all done with an emphasis on sustainability, pollinator-friendly plants, and low-maintenance gardening.

4. Thompson & Morgan | thompson-morgan.com

This site is a little different to the first three, in that it is run by one of the UK’s largest seed and plant retailers. However, just like our aim with our furniture-focussed magazine-style blog, they’re combining e-commerce with a rich library of gardening advice.

We love their in-depth guides on growing plants from seeds and their practical advice on how to deal with common garden issues. Their shop itself is basically an extensive plant, seed, and bulb library packed with planting and care information, and they regularly post insightful gardening blogs and how-to-videos.

5. Crocus | crocus.co.uk

Crocus has one of, if not the, largest online plant selections in the UK. Their helpful "Plant Doctor" is our go-to if we need to diagnose plant issues.

However, it makes our list today as it also has some of the most inspiring garden design ideas and tips, often sourced from leading garden designers. If you’re planning a change to your planting scheme in 2025, then Crocus is a great place to go for planning advice and planting combinations.

6. Plant Heritage | plantheritage.org.uk

The Plant Heritage site is firmly focused on conserving rare and unusual plants, something close to the hearts of the team here at our head office.

It is a fantastic resource for discovering unique plant varieties and understanding plant conservation, making it the perfect place for gardeners interested in biodiversity and native species. Look out for their excellent annual events, talks, and workshops that are perfect for those wanting to know more about plant conservation in the UK.

7. Saga Gardening | saga.co.uk/magazine/home-garden/gardening

Our good friends at Saga primarily cater to the over-50s but, regardless of age, their online gardening magazine is a valuable resource for any gardener looking for straightforward advice on garden care, low-maintenance planting, and accessibility-friendly garden design.

We love their easy-to-follow guides for growing flowers, fruits, and veg, their practical advice on wildlife gardening and attracting pollinators, and the regularly updated articles on the latest gardening trends for a more discerning audience.

Our final thoughts…

Several of the websites listed above are likely to feature garden furniture during the summer, as it is a key part of many garden design projects and seasonal gardening advice.

For example, Crocus, Thompson & Morgan, and Gardeners' World frequently feature garden furniture content during the summer, providing expert advice on creating outdoor spaces, including furniture recommendations, tips for choosing furniture for specific garden styles, and furniture maintenance.

Taking a little time now to look at the gardening websites above is the perfect way to get ahead and get your garden back on track for Summer 2025.

The websites in our top 7 are a treasure trove of information, tips, and inspiration.

You can use the wintertime into early spring to learn about different gardening techniques, plant care tips, and design ideas or discover new plants and gardening tools that can help you transform your outside space.

As we always say here at Lazy Susan, the key to a beautiful garden is in the planning and preparation.

Starting early and researching your options now, means you can start creating a garden that you'll love spending time in come summer.
