Adding a 2-person cast aluminium bench to your garden offers numerous benefits, making it a smart choice for those seeking to enhance both the style and functionality of their outside spaces.
Our collection features a range of styles and colours and they work as a stand-alone piece or as part of a configuration with a side/coffee table or dining set.
Here at Lazy Susan, we think garden benches are often overlooked and underappreciated.
While it may seem like a simple piece of outdoor furniture, a garden bench is the perfect piece to create a quiet sanctuary for contemplation, relaxation, and enjoyment in your outside space.
A spot to escape daily life, to read a book, sip a cup of tea, or simply to watch the world go by.
From a design perspective, we think that a well-placed bench can transform a garden or patio area, providing a focal point and inviting visitors to pause and appreciate the surroundings.
They are a versatile piece of outdoor furniture that can be dressed up or down, and enjoyed by all.
Why should you buy a 2-seater cast aluminium bench?
At Lazy Susan our garden benches are all constructed from high-grade cast aluminium, which has several advantages over other materials when it comes to the UK climate:
-
Durability
Our garden benches are highly resistant to rust, corrosion, and the elements. Unlike wood, which can rot, or iron, which can rust, aluminium withstands rain, snow, and intense sunlight, making them durable and ideally suited to UK gardens. -
Longevity
A cast aluminium bench is built to last for many years with minimal maintenance. It won’t warp or crack, even in extreme temperatures, ensuring it remains a permanent feature in your outside space. -
Low Maintenance
Cast aluminium is very easy to maintain. You can simply wash it with soapy water and rinse it to remove dirt. Unlike wooden benches, there's no need to stain, seal, or paint it regularly to keep it looking new and protected. -
Style
Our range features a host of elegant and intricate designs, which can complement the style of your garden, whether you’re looking for a traditional, modern, or rustic look. Our casting process allows us to create ornate and intricate metalwork that will bring a touch of sophistication to your patio. -
Comfort
The 2-seater design provides ample space for two people to relax and enjoy the garden together. Our benches can also be paired with our fitted bench cushions for added comfort. -
Timeless
Cast aluminium has a classic appearance that fits seamlessly into most UK gardens. Whether placed near a flower bed, under a tree, or on a patio, a good garden bench will elevate the look of any space. -
Lightweight
Cast aluminium benches are relatively lightweight compared to other heavy-duty garden furniture materials like stone or wrought iron. This makes our benches easier to move around and reposition in your garden as needed. -
Sturdy
They are still sturdy and strong enough to support two people, and less likely to blow over in strong winds than materials such as plastic or some wooden options. -
Cost-Effective
While they may have a higher initial cost compared to plastic or softwood options, their longevity and low maintenance requirements make them a more cost-effective investment in the long run. Plus, you won’t have to replace or refinish it frequently, saving you money on upkeep. -
Functional
A bench can serve as both seating, a focal point, or a decorative element, adding both style and comfort to your outside space. -
Space-Saving
A 2-seater bench is a compact yet highly functional piece of furniture, which is especially beneficial in smaller gardens where you want to maximise seating without taking up too much room. -
Versatility
Though perfect for gardens, a cast aluminium bench can also be used on patios, balconies, at the front of your property, or even indoors in a conservatory.
How much outdoor space do you need for our 2-person garden benches?
To determine how much floor space you’ll need in your garden for a 2-seater bench from Lazy Susan, you’ll want to consider the dimensions and leave enough room around it for comfortable seating and safe movement.
The dimensions of the garden benches in our collection are shown in the table below:

As you can see the sizes are pretty similar and this is typical of most 2-seater benches on sale in the UK where they’ll range around 100 to 150 cm (approx. 4 to 5 feet) in length, 40 to 60 cm in depth (front to back), and between 80 to 100 cm in height
You’ll also find the measurements on a diagram in our shop under the dimensions tab. As a general rule (to ensure people can sit comfortably), you should allow between 50 to 90 cm of space in front for easy access, movement, and leg room.
Always check the exact dimensions of the specific model you're purchasing and consider any additional furniture (such as a side table, for example) or garden features (such as planters, for example) you may want to incorporate into the design.
To check that the size and fit work in the space you want to put the bench, we would recommend that you temporarily mark it up. There are 3 methods we like to use that won’t damage your patio surface:
-
Tape
Painter's tape can be used to mark the outline dimensions of the bench on your patio. This is a non-permanent and easy-to-remove when satisfied. -
Chalk
If your patio is a stone/paved surface, you can use chalk to outline the bench. This is also easy to remove with a brush and water when done. -
Card
You can also cut pieces of cardboard to represent the dimensions of the bench and lay it out on your patio. This will help you visualise the space the bench will take up.
Our final thoughts…
Measuring the free space before purchasing a new bench is essential to guarantee a perfect fit, avoid over or under-crowding, maximise comfort, and create a balanced layout that enhances visual appeal.
Our 2-person cast aluminium benches will be an excellent addition to your garden for 2025. They provide durability, comfort, and style while requiring minimal maintenance.
Whether you want to add a functional seating area or simply enhance the look of your garden, a cast aluminium bench will give you a practical and attractive solution that will stand the test of time.
A well-placed bench will maximise the usable space in your garden, and by carefully measuring first, you can be confident in your purchase, reducing the risk of returns or dissatisfaction.
