We’ve just received a lovely email from Ellie Milner, Global Director of our Do Some Good partner, Arms Around The Child...
Ellie was giving us another update on how our £10k donation back in May 2021 has now helped to support their Water Project at Becky’s Home for Children in Senya Beraku, Ghana.
These projects are always difficult in terms of logistics but they’ve had great success in boring clean drinking water as you can see from the videos and images they’ve kindly sent us below.
The construction has guaranteed water flow for the next few years and the team behind it see no reason why this shouldn't continue even longer.
The money donated from Lazy Susan has enabled them to install the tanks, pumps and filters to provide the children with the clean drinking water they so desperately needed.
They were also able to direct a flow to the showers and toilets, something we take for granted, but means so much to the children.
Arms Around The Child will be sharing the story on their social media channels in the next couple of weeks, adding the full story to their website and thanking us for our support.
This is all down to the fab photographs of your Lazy Susan Garden Furniture that you send us!

About Becky's Foundation & Children’s Home
Becky’s Foundation is based in Ghana and has been working to improve the quality of life of the country’s most vulnerable children.
The foundation manages its own orphanage home, prep school, and football academy, as well as supporting a host of credible local projects that focus on education, community development, healthcare, and special needs.
Becky’s home is currently one of Arms Around The Child main supported sites and is currently looking after 55 children.
The home itself grew from a need to provide a safe place for abandoned children, orphans, chronically ill and those rescued from trafficking in the historic coastal fishing town of Senya Beraku.
The home provides a safe nurturing environment enabling them to develop and grow to their full potential.
You can find out more about Becky’s and the work they’re doing on the Arms Around The Child website.
About Arms Around The Child
Arms Around The Child is a global charity that is looking to build a better and kinder environment for children living in extreme adversity.
As they state on their website; “we can all participate in a kinder world for children, because if not us, then who”?
Arms Around The Child are simply asking us to help them create a powerful impact by refusing to turn ours back on our human family and to show determination in striving to change the lives of others in less fortunate circumstances than ours.
You can help us to help them!
About our Do Some Good charity campaign
Michael Scott and the Lazy Susan team have made a number of significant donations as part of our Do Some Good campaign.
Our aim is to reach a £100k target by the end of 2021 and donations so far include:
- £10,500 in cash to Arms Around the Child.
- Over £24,000 of new garden furniture for the British Heart Foundation to sell in their stores in May 2021.
- Over £7,000 of new garden furniture to St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Portsmouth.
- £600 of new garden furniture to a local children's home to use in their garden.
- £2,000 donation to a charity that we’ve not supported before called Friends Fighting Cancer.
- A further £18,000 worth of stock to the British Heart Foundation in August 2021.
- £2,386 in cash to the LifeHouse in Southsea.
- A further £4,983.26 in furniture was donated to St Wilfrid’s Hospice just last month.
That puts us very close to £70,000 donated so far and right on track to hopefully reach that £100k mark!
Our Do Some Good charity initiative has raised over £217k since 2015 for a number of great causes across the UK and around the world.
All of this is possible because of the photographs our customers send us.
...But we want to donate even more between now and the end of the year to hopefully hit our fundraising target.
